From today Qantas will begin a direct non stop air service between Sydney and Santiago, the capitial city of Chile. The service will operate three times a week.
The last Qantas flight to Buenos Aires in Argentina occured on March 24. Qantas will now use Santiago as its gateway to South America. Qantas will continue to offer code sharing with LAN, the Chilean national airline on LAN's daily Sydney-Auckland-Santiago service. In turn LAN will offer code share seats on the direct service.
