Australian Aviation, one of Australia's premier aviation publications and web sites, is reporting Adelaide Airport reported a solid growth in passenger numbers during 2013.
Domestic passengers rose 3.9 per cent from 3,056,000 to 3,174,000 for the year. International traffic increased 23.7 per cent from 351,000 to 434,000. The increase in international traffic has been attributed to new services offered by Jetstar Airlines to Bali and Auckland, and by Air Asia X. These new services commenced in the last half of 2013. International passenger numbers are expected to increase in 2014.
The only negative growth was in regional numbers. Regional numbers fell from 318,000 to 294,000 , a drop of 7.6 per cent due to the reduction in resource industry traffic.
