During 2014 Brisbane Airport, Australia's third busiest by passenger numbers, has recorded the fastest rate of growth in international passenger numbers since 2005. In 2014 more than 4.92 million international travelers passed through the airport, equating to an increase of 5.5 per cent on 2013 figures.
Domestic passenger figures also increased by a modest 1 per cent to 17.08 million. Overall the total passenger numbers for Brisbane Airport grew by 1.9 per cent to more than 22 million in total.
The airport has attributed the growth to several factors including a increase in frequency of services, and one off events such as the G20 summit. Brisbane Airport is confident growth will continue and has committed to spend 3.5 billion dollars over the next 10 years to build and improve infrastructure.
