The website Aviation Business Asia Pacific is reporting the Airbus Global Market Forecast says the number of passenger aircraft based in Australia and South Pacific is set to grow.
The report suggests the number of aircraft will grow from around 700 now to more than 1200 by 2033. The amount of international traffic to the region is set to grow annually at 4.5 per cent overall.
The report notes travelers in the Australia/South Pacific region travel at the rate of more than 3 trips a year on average, which is double that of North America.
The GMF forecast by 2033 the number of aviation mega cities globally will double to 91. In our region, Sydney and Melbourne will be joined by Perth, Brisbane and Auckland as cities in the mega category. These five cities are forecast to be handling more than 180 million passengers in total each year by 2033.
