Airservices Australia CEO Greg Russell was interviewed by Philippe Domogala for The Controller magazine. The interview was published in issue 2 of 2010. Mr Russell was speaking in his capacity as Executive OPS Committee Chairman for CANSO.
Mr Russell was asked what the main challenge for ATM (Air Traffic Management) in the next 5 years.
Mr Russell replied "Unfortunately many of the same people at ATC Global are talking about the same issues that they did last year and action is frustrating slow. We need a big idea - a 'game changer'. In my view we need to focus on how technology can really change the way we facilitate the global airways system but we also need the political will to change as well. We need a truly collaborative approach with all parts of the aviation service delivery chain. These are the challenges and CANSO is an important part of the solution".
