Regional Express (Rex) has announced it will commence services between Newcastle and Sydney, and Newcastle and Ballina/Byron Bay from October 30.  Rex have advised they view the Sydney to Newcastle route a substantial growth opportunity.

Rex will operate three daily return services between Sydney and Newcastle on weekdays and two return services on weekends.  A daily return service will operate between Newcastle and Ballina/Byron Bay.

Regional Express (Rex) is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of more than 40 Saab 340 aircraft on some 1,300 weekly flights to 35 destinations throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland. The new services will add another 45 flights a week to their schedule.

Newcastle Airport has welcomed the addition of Rex to the airlines servicing the Hunter region of New South Wales.
