The Commonwealth Government has announced the appointment of Air Chief Marshall Angus Houston, AC, AFC(Ret'd) as the next Chair of Airservices Australia commencing from 3 June 2012.

Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston has joined the Airservices Board from 6 December 2011 and will replace David Forsyth, the current Chair of the Board, when his second term as Chair expires next year.Air Chief Marshal Houston was formerly the chief of the Australian Defence Force.

The Government consider his experience will assist the Board in the delivery of the ambitious five year, $1 billion Airservices Australia capital expenditure program which is replacing and upgrading vital air traffic infrastructure and improving aerodrome rescue and firefighting services.

Airservices has been working closely with the Royal Australian Air Force over the past few years to harmonise civil and military air traffic management and deliver improved safety and efficiency.
