The Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) web site is reporting the Low Cost Carrier Tiger Airways is establishing a new base at Sydney Airport.

 

 

Tiger Airways have announced it will have three Airbus A320s flying out of Sydney from July, which will add about 3,600 seats a day out of Australia's busiest airport.  Sydney-Brisbane and Sydney-Gold Coast will be included among the routes.

The New South Wales Government have provided tax rebates to the airline to assist with the development of the base.  There is the expectation 150 jobs will be created with the potential for further growth.

Tiger Airways forecast to have 10 aircraft operating within Australia by the end of 2012.  Tiger Airways are yet to turn a profit on its Australian operations.
