The Australian newspaper is reporting Australia's aviation safety watchdog, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority(CASA), is conducting a top to bottom review of Australia's Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) Airservices Australia.

The head of CASA, Mr John McCormick, revealed the in-depth probe at this weeks Senate Estimates hearings.  Mr McCormick advised there was no particular incident that sparked the enquiry.  Airservices are subject to regular audits by CASA.

Mr McCormick has revealed the review will be from top to bottom and has commenced by interviewing the previous CEO Mr Greg Russell who left Airservices last week.  Mr McCormick believed CASA needed to get a holistic view of Airservices that piecemeal audits would not necessarily provide.  No timeframe has been advised for the enquiry or method of distribution of any report.
