From today Air India will commence a direct daily service between New Delhi and Sydney with the return flight via Melbourne and then direct to New Delhi using Boeing 787 aircraft.

Air India’s Manager Australia Ravi Bodade said the new daily Air India service will mark Australia’s first ever Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger service.  Sydney will be the fourth international destination which Air India will utilise the Boeing 787.

The NSW government has welcomed the air service commencing today and expects the new service to boost trade and tourism links with India.  Last year over 280,000 travellers commuted between Australia and India a growth of 11% over the previous year.
