This week Qantas subsidiary, QantasLink, commenced operations to the South Australian city of Whyalla.

QantasLink offers a double-daily service between Adelaide and Whyalla utilising Dash 8 Q300 turboprop aircraft.  The service provides 1300 seats a week – more then 65 000 seats a year between the South Australian capital and the largest city on the Eyre Peninsula.

The Whyalla local government authority financed a $3 million upgrade to the Whyalla airport and hope the new service will provide more opportunities for tourism in the region.

Whyalla is the 58th destination on the QantasLink network and the third South Australian destination after Adelaide and Port Lincoln.
